Interplanetary Association
It's easy to forget that, a mere few hundred years ago, people were deprived of the great advances that the Interplanetary Association made possible.
Without the IA, how could we have the vast interplanetary trading networks we have? How could we have the peace and prosperity The Corporations have brought to us? How could we have the great scientific developments that have brought us health and wellbeing, and connected us to distant planets?
Working together, The Corporations that form the IA have brought about a new era of humanity spread across the stars!
History
In the early years of space travel, the distance between planets left them isolated and alone. Planetary governments sprung up, warring with each other. Scuffles for control over these planetary governments killed billions.
Back on Earth, the predecessors of The Corporations we know today saw humanity's suffering and banded together to save us. Using their merchant fleets and working together, they laid down an ultimatum for peace. Any planets that rejected their sensible plan would cease to receive any goods.
Within a generation, humanity saw the light, and united under the fledgling Interplanetary Association.
Governance
The Interplanetary Association is governed by a Senate of corporate leaders. These visionaries represent each of The Corporations and, through them, humanity. The Senate elects a president who guides the IA. Together they make the security we know possible by the rules and regulations they establish.
Each of The Corporations elects three Senators through their stockholders. The next elections are due to take place on Galleria II in a few weeks.

The Utopian Society
Despite the great advances that the Interplanetary Association has made for humanity, some few people have chosen to question the order it brings. These malcontents have, in recent years, come together under the banner of the Utopian Society. They can be recognized by their false, revisionist views of history, their poor hygiene, their disagreement with all social order, their attacks on the pillars of society and their flashy campaign ads (Join US!). Citizens of the IA are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to local authorities. You are our eyes and ears in the system and security is everyone's responsibility.
