Background
Play your cards right, and you'll get a chance to study a live alien. You're one of the US's leading experts on alien technology over at HQ. Then again, there aren't that many experts on alien technology. You are one of the few members of Majestic-12 -- the secret organization that the US government has formed in order to deal with aliens. Mostly, you just cover up crop circles and cattle mutilations. However, sometimes you get your hands on an authentic alien artifact. You don't know much about the makers of these artifacts, other than that they were some non-human intelligence, so that makes them aliens according to the US government.
You currently have one such artifact with you. You don't understand how or why it works, but it seems to be some sort of truth compulsion device. It looks just like a small stone covered in glyphs, but you cut yourself while studying it one day and noticed that it had affected one of the interns. You now know how to control it, though it requires a drop of your blood each time you use it. Well, regardless of how it works, you're excited to have it at your disposal.
Anyway, you are currently assigned to the Iraqi negotiations, in which the US government suspects alien influence of some sort. You're supposed to figure out what that involvement is, precisely. To do this, you're posing as the liaison from the US State Department, while your partner is posing as your bodyguard. Then you saw whom you would be partnered with -- Nathan Kennedy. The name still takes your breath away. He's the most suave and dashing man you've ever met, though a bit rough-and-tumble at times. The two of you have had this on-again, off-again romance for the past 10 years. He can be so charming sometimes, but at other times, he acts like a complete pig. You thought you two had a good thing going in Brazil, but he just walked out on you. You asked him about it much later, and he said that he was marched on a plane by terrorists. Terrorists in Brazil? And why would they march him on the plane rather than shooting him if they hate Americans so much? Really. He must think you're gullible. Just because he's a hot-shot in the CIA doesn't mean he can walk all over you (or out on you).
Whew. Where were you? You always get distracted when you think of Nathan. Right. You went to Iraq, looking for aliens. You were snooping around, sniffing out rumors of ancient archaeological artifacts of alien origin, when you bumped into the strangest woman by the name of Emel Faiz. The way she moved was... wrong. I mean, it was subtle, to be sure, but she bent her body in places where there weren't any joints. You had to be an expert in human physiology in order to notice it, though. You're convinced that she must be an alien. And the way she acts. Some might call it the eccentric habits of the rich, but you're sure she's not human. You need to find a way to study her...
Anyway, not all your leads are as exciting as the prospect of studying a real, live alien. You need to talk to the insurgents and find out how the incidents are connected with aliens. You should also keep an eye out for other artifacts and talk to anyone else collecting them. Finally, keep your ears open for any other mention of alien technology.
