Background
You're seventeen and you're tired of just being the dutiful daughter of a spiritual leader. Your father is nice to you and all, but you never get to meet anyone your own age. You spend all of your days following him around to different ancient ruins and translating archaic tomes. It doesn't help that everyone around you is so terrified of your father that they won't have real conversations with you.
You never knew your mother. Your father says she died giving birth to you. He says she was a very special woman, the most special woman in the world. You know he loved her very much and misses her. You miss her too. You wish you knew more about her, but your father refuses to talk about her.
You just want to lead a normal life, whatever that is. You're not really sure because you've spent your whole life with your father. Your education was sitting on your father's lap while he read ancient tablets written in Aramaic to you. He is fiercely protective and wouldn't let anyone else get too close to you. It is only in the last few years--when his studies grew so great that he couldn't handle it all alone--that he began entrusting you with errands that let you get glimpses of the real world and real people.
A few months ago your father sent you with some of his men to Baghdad to pick up some tablets from an antiquities dealer. He couldn't trust anyone else with the task because none of them could fluently read Akkadian to verify that the tablets were legitimate. After you had had confirmed that they were about some ancient demon bound for eternity beneath the sands, you decided to slip your leash for awhile and see the city.
You slipped away from your father's men and lost yourself in the fascinating ebb and flow of people in the city. Cities are strange places, especially without a half a dozen people watching over you and telling you where to go. You had never seen so many people before, nor watched them interacting in what must be a "normal" fashion. It was really cool!
While you were walking through part of the city, you overheard two people speaking in Nahuatl. At first you thought it was strange, but then you realized the two people were American. Of course Americans could speak an old language that come from the Americas. They were talking about some kind of ruins, so you assumed they must be colleagues of your father. You walked up and introduced yourself in Nahuatl and asked if they knew your father.
The two looked at you in shock. They weren't the only ones that were was surprised though. One of the two men was the most gorgeous man you had ever seen. You fell in love with him right then and there. Eventually, he introduced himself as Nathan. You completely failed to note the name of the other American.
Sadly, it was around this time that your father's men caught up with you. Still tongue-tied, you went with them, unable to take your eyes off of Nathan. You noticed with considerable excitement that Nathan didn't take his eyes off of you either as you were dragged away. You cried for the better part of a week when no one was looking, worried that you would never see Nathan again.
Fate would not be so unkind to you though. You're sure the spirit of your mother was looking out for you. No less than two weeks ago when you were running another errand for your father, you caught sight of Nathan. He tossed you a smile and a wink. A deep hunger arose inside of you, something completely new. Despite extra precautions after the last incident, you managed to slip your father's men again fifteen minutes later. Your heart fluttered as you saw that Nathan was still where you had seen him, clearly waiting for you.
Your conversation was brief. He was very cautious about getting you into trouble. He said he just had to see you and talk to you again after your last meeting. He mostly just wanted to know a little more about you, who you were, where you were from and what you did. He asked that you not tell your father or anyone else about meeting him, something you readily agreed to. It wasn't until he had hurried off that you realized you hadn't had a chance to ask him anything about himself. He had promised that you would see him again soon though...
Today promises to be another one of your father's boring political meetings. The one good point about all this is that the meeting is taking place on the ruins of the Tower of Babel. It's not exactly a shopping mall but it should be fun to explore. Maybe if you help show some of the Americans around they'll tell you more about their country.
Contacts
Abd-al Aziz Mamoon: Your father is a very dedicated and knowledgeable man. If only he let you get out more and see the world. You are very tired of how over-protective he is of you. You also wish that he would tell you more about your mother and what happened to her.
Tariq ibn Faruq: This man works for your father and oversees of the day-to-day operations of your father's organization. He's stuffy and staid and not even well-educated. He couldn't tell Pochutec writings from Ubyx writings if his life depended on it.
Nathan Kennedy: OMG, he's here! You need him to take you away from your cage, marry you, and set you free. He has woken something in you that you never knew was there...
