Character Sheet
Your name is Laura Dalton. You were born in Western Massachusetts and you are the only child of a Lawyer and a non-profit volunteer. You were pretty sheltered as a child, staying mostly with your family, not having many friends in middle school. It wasn't much of an interesting life, but you didn't really know better, so you weren't unhappy.
That mostly changed when you got to High school. In freshman year you met a guy in your math class. His name was Darren Gregory, and he was gorgeous. He was smart and cool and he acted like he didn't care about anything. It was the bad-boy thing that got you interested.
You tried to become friends with him, but it was hard to find a time and place to approach him. It took you months, but you finally talked to him. You asked him for some help on a science project and you worked together quite well. He was just as smart and nice as you thought he would be.
So you spent the next three years doing all you could to become Darren's best friend. It wasn't that hard as neither of you had many (if any) other friends.
You loved hanging out with him, you loved talking to him, and you loved hearing him talk. You hung on every word. You were pretty sure he didn't like you the same way you liked him, but you felt that if you stuck around him long enough, he would learn to like you that way.
So things went that way for the next three years. You stuck by him as his 'best friend' and secretly dreamed of the day he saw you as more than a friend. That is, until he moved to Chicago in the summer before senior year. You didn't hear the whole story, but apparently his father got a position there and decided to move the whole family. You were distraught, but you felt a little better when you heard that he got upset that he had to leave you behind.
And so therefore Senior year sucked for you. You didn't really have any other friends an classes and everything else seemed boring without Darren. You trudged through the schoolyear, trying to think about what to do when you graduated. You looked at colleges in the Boston area, not really wanting to go too far from home.
You had been emailing back and forth with Darren (well, it was more that you emailed him and he would respond a week or so later), and he was also having trouble figuring out what to do with regards to college. However, as soon as he said that he was thinking of going to Lashane College, which was near Boston, Lashane became the top of your list.
That's how you ended up going to Lashane College. Your freshman year dorm room was across campus from Darren's unfortunately, and you didn't have any classes with him, but you found ways to 'run into' him all over campus.
You didn't really like his roommate, Dave. He was clearly an druggie who was trying to pose as an intellectual. He wasn't very nice to Darren, leaving his stuff all over the place and sleeping when Darren should be working.
So Freshman year was boring, you started your philosophy major. Darren turned out to be a journalism major, so you looked into those classes. Your classes were vaguely interesting, and you liked some of the clubs you were involved in.
Sophomore year, however, became more interesting. In addition to taking one of the journalism classes that Darren was in, he started a band with some other people. It was called TMRfOH (you're not sure what it stood for, but it sounded awesome. Darren's new roommate, Scott was in it, as well as Scott's old roommate, Michael, and Michael's new roommate, Fredrick. Scott was kind of boring, he was clearly an ex-jock who was attempting to become an intellectual. Fredrick was a good bass player, but you didn't know much more about him. Michael was the lead singer. He was kind of cute, but he came off as a bit of an artsy snob.
You went to all of their concerts in the campus coffeehouse. You considered yourself the band's official groupie. You were happy to be able to see Darren, even if he was in the background, playing drums.
What was interesting is, by the third performance, you noticed that someone else was also going to all of their concerts. You found out that her name was Jessica. It took you a while, but you found out who she was. She was Darren's girlfriend.
You were devastated. You didn't know about her, and Darren didn't tell you. You were a little upset about that, but you understood that he didn't want to hurt your feelings or anything.
You didn't like her. She was bitchy, overbearing, and she didn't treat Darren very well. You hoped she wouldn't be around for very long. Darren could do much better than her, both you and he knew it. Maybe he just didn't know that you were interested in him.
After you graduated, you lost touch with Darren. You emailed back and forth for a little while, but nothing serious. He was busy, you understand that. Ever since you got that internship at a law firm in Boston, you've been pretty busy yourself. Your working all day, and when you're not working, you're studying.
It was a bit of a disappointment when he stopped emailing you, but it was more of a shock when you found out why. About a year ago, you were looking through the paper, and you noticed an article about a young man dying in a train station. You saw Darren's picture. It took you a couple hours to stop crying.
It was probably that bitch Jessica's fault. She was never good enough for him. If only he could have come to you before he died.
Things haven't really been the same this past year. Your work has been slipping, your grades have been slipping and you feel like you've been walking in a haze or something. You need closure. You feel like you need to make things right about Darren's death, get him the respect and the memory that he deserves. You're not sure how you're going to go about that, but you should figure that out soon.
Either that, or you're going to go insane.

That mostly changed when you got to high school. In freshman year, you met a guy in your math class. His name was Darren Gregory, and he was gorgeous. You didn't really think you were interested in boys, but he was smart and cool and he acted like he didn't care about anything. It was the bad-boy thing that got you interested.

You didn't really like his roommate, Dave. He was clearly a druggie who was trying to pose as an intellectual. He wasn't very nice to Darren, leaving his stuff all over the place and sleeping or playing loud music when Darren should've been working.
So, freshman year was boring. You started your philosophy major. Darren turned out to be a journalism major, so you looked into journalism classes. Your classes were vaguely interesting, and you liked some of the clubs you were involved in.

It was probably that bitch Jessica's fault. She was never good enough for him. If only he could have come to you before he died.
And to add insult to injury, you were listening to the radio a while ago, and the new pop hit by that guy Mike Jones came on. And he was singing a song you knew you had heard before. After a minute, you realized it was a TMRfOH song. Darren wrote all of the TMRfOH songs. You were outraged that some rich and famous jerk was getting richer and famouser on Darren's work and he wouldn't have seen a penny of it. Darren would probably be turning in his grave (god bless him) if he knew about this.
Things haven't really been the same this past year. Your work has been slipping, your grades have been slipping and you feel like you've been walking in a haze or something. You need closure. Last Thoughts Before Game Start
Well, isn't that interesting. You're on your way back to work and who's there? Jessica, Darren's bitch of an ex, who might as well have pushed him in front of a train herself. And hey, it's her dumb new boyfriend, Scott, who was supposedly Darren's "best friend" in college. What a friend.
And there's Shannon, Darren's younger sister. How interesting that they're all here at the same time.
But wait... that's... that's William Hughes! The author. You love his work, You read his last book about a million times and you've been waiting for his next one. It's going to be amazing, you know it. Imagine that, he rides the T, like a normal person.
Who You Know on the Train
01. - Jessica Hawthorne – Darren’s bitch of a girlfriend. She never knew how lucky she was to be with Darren, and when they were together she treated you like some kind of freak. And now that Darren’s gone, she goes and hooks up with that meathead Scott when his body is barely cold. You’re going to make sure you get her for him.
02. - Scott Barrister – He and Darren were friends in college; you think they were in that band together. He was a dumb, arrogant jock then and doesn’t seem to have changed much, and now he’s with that bitch Jessica right after Darren’s death.
04. - This guy seems like he belongs in some old detective movie. You don't know if that means he's going to shoot you or ask you for help on a mystery.
05. - Oooh, she must be one of those psychics. The ones who can read your palm or talk to the dead. Interesting.
06. - William Hughes – Oh, my God, is that really him? That’s William Hughes, your absolute favorite writer! You’ve been a fan of his forever, and you’ve written letter after letter to him expressing your admiration. You can see that he really understands you.
07. - Shannon Gregory – Darren’s younger sister. Darren was always really good to her, and she never seemed to be able to treat him right. Yeah, she’s pretty sorry now that he’s gone, but what good does that do him now?
08. - This guy seems a little nervous. Maybe he doesn't like trains.
09. - This guy on the other hand looks like he'd kill you as soon as look at you. He looks like someone you don't want to meet in a dark alley. Or a brightly lit alley for that matter.
10. - This guy is trying to look inconspicuous and he's kind of failing. He looks somewhat familiar, though. Kinda cute, too.
11. - This guy, on the other hand, looks like he wants to stand out. Looks a bit thug-ish.
12. - He doesn't look all that well, in point of fact. He looks a little lost in thought.
13. - This guy definitely doesn't look like he belongs here. He looks like his limo broke down or something.
14. - And, of course, the obligatory crazy smelly hobo is here.
15. - The Conductor. Not much to say about her. She looks kinda familiar too, though.
