Whenever pizazz and charm were needed, you would be able to provide your presence and voice. Who could possibly ask for anything more than faithfully serving the masses in such a glorious fashion?

Well, you could, though you didn't realize it for your first twenty-five years. It was when you were on one of those "business getaways" relaxing in the spas on Venus that you first noticed a crack in the perfect galaxy and perfect life you inhabited. One of the serving girls had a shocking figure that would have been perfectly in place on the catwalks of Saturn. She had to wear a size 00000. When you asked her about her modeling career, her suddenly blank expression told you something was wrong. The woman suddenly muttered about not having enough to eat and starving to death before stumbling off crying.

People weren't supposed to actually starve to death, were they? Maybe on a new colony world somewhere, but certainly not while working at the Great Spas of Venus. It was an eye opener. From then on, wherever you went, you saw things that didn't fit with the perfect galaxy you had always thought existed. A few years later, when Roger Smorgasborg, a writer at Crystal Network, asked you to JOIN US! you realized that you could play a very important role in making a perfect galaxy from this flawed one.

For the past ten years everything has been just peachy again as you've worked with US to convert others and reform the galaxy. Your efforts within Crystal Network have earned you the support of so many people that you effectively control 39% of the shares in the corporation.

You're not sure what the perfect galaxy is, but that isn't your job. The upper-ups are very intelligent and thoughtful folks who take care of that for you. You get the much more fun job of making everyone understand that a better galaxy is possible and convincing them to JOIN US! Of course, you love talking about the possibilities and hearing what other people think the perfect society should be.

This trip on the Flagship Petunia is the culmination of your endeavors. The crew and passengers on board the Petunia this flight, collectively, have enough shares in the MegaCorporations to control the fate of the galaxy. Shortly after the Petunia reaches Galleria II, the next Interplanetary Association elections will be occurring. You've got a sign-up sheet with you. Those who sign pledge to vote with US in the upcoming Interplanetary Association elections. Your duty is to convince as many people as possible to JOIN US! With their support and shares the galaxy can be made perfect!

One issue with the upcoming IA elections is that Utopian Society doesn't really have good candidates to stand for the elections. You're convinced that once you get some of the folks on board to JOIN US! you'll also be able to convince one from each Corporation to stand in the elections to represent their Corporation and US. Naturally, you'll be standing for Crystal Network unless a better candidate comes along.

Who You Know

Anish Patel, Ship's Engineer
Anish is a legal alien from some planet on the outskirts of the known galaxy. As the Ship's Engineer, Anish knows all kinds of things about space ships. Anish has acquired 11% of Precipice Technologies through coming up with some technological breakthroughs that are apparently quite amazing. Through your connections you've found out that Anish is increasingly frustrated with the inefficiency of the IA. You hope that Anish could be convinced to Join US! by discussing how much more smoothly things could be run.

Avi Levinstein, Ship's Doctor
Avi is the grandson of THE Avi Levinstein. THE Avi Levinstein was one of the most skilled theoriticians and practitioners of last century. THE Avi discovered Elixus, the galaxy-renowned... impotence drug. While the Ship's Doctor is elderly at this point, Avi is still called Avi the Younger, due to being eclipsed by Avi the Elder. Avi the Younger holds a full 36% of the shares in Contenta, undoubtedly passed down from Avi the Elder. You know that Avi would desperately love to feel important and get out of the shadow of Avi the Elder. You hope that you can convince Avi to Join US!

Don Don, Passenger
Don Donald Donson is one of the upper-ups in the Agribusiness Mafia. While not THE Don, he is a notable Don named Donald Donson nonetheless. Don Don has picked up 12% of the shares of the Agribusiness Mafia, 7% of Crystal Network and 5% of Contenta. You're not sure what Don Don's overall agenda is, but it can't be good. Don Don will be marrying Dorcas Peterson once the ship arrives at its destination.

Dorcas Peterson (Petunia), Ship's Navigator
You've found out that Dorcas is actually the secret lover of The General, Sir Joseph Butler. Dorcas is indentured to the Agribusiness Mafia and is now pledged to marry Don Don. Poor Dorcas. There must be something keeping Butler from simply buying her freedom from Don Don.

The Red Family, Ensigns
The famous Red Family is spread across the galaxy. They happen to have an Ensign or two aboard the Petunia. The Red Family is well known for... well for serving bravely on the front lines. Associated with that happens to come a high death toll. You do know that over the generations, the Red Family has apparently come into control of 25% of the shares of Walton Worlds. The Red Family always sticks together when protecting the galaxy. If you can convince the Red Family, through the Ensigns here, to Join US! it would be a major assistance.

Jeff L. Picket, Ship's Captain
Captain Picket came from a good family and has had quite the impressive career. An appointment to Captain of the Petunia came not long after Picket inherited 20% of Precipice Technologies. Captain Picket really does love space and has always wanted to explore beyond the horizon. You were delighted when you found out that Captain Picket made the right choice to Join US! a few years back. Captain Picket is obviously rather quiet about this, but you know you have an ally if you need something.

Jesus Rodriguez, Ship's Bartender
You're not sure where Jesus Rodriguez came from. Jesus acquired 8% of the shares of Walton Worlds a few years back, but you haven't been able to find out anything about him before that. Not knowing anything about his background, you're not sure how to convince Jesus to Join US! Why Jesus is working as a bartender on the Petunia is another mystery. Jesus sure serves up some great drinks though, including some you've never heard of.

Jip Barton, Passenger
Jip is a child prodigy at Banana. Jip completely revolutionized almost all of Banana's products with some technological breakthroughs. Jip is a whiz with computers and any kind of technology imaginable. Although barely of age, Jip has taken control of 30% of Banana's shares. Jip is heading to renegotiate a contract with Banana executives. You've heard that Jip is anything but pleased with the way Banana currently does business and hope to use that to convince Jip to Join US!

Sir Joseph Butler, General of the Starship Fleet
The General of the Starship Fleet is one of the most important people in the IA. Through years of service to the IA, General Butler has picked up an assortment of shares in every Corporation (20% of Precipice Technologies, 5% of each of the others). General Butler has taken Dorcas Peterson as his secret lover. If you could help get Dorcas free of her engagement to Don Don, you'd be certain to earn the respect of General Butler. Perhaps that would be enough to convince the General to Join US!

Madison Wisconsin, Ship's Counselor
Counselor Wisconsin is a member of Walton Worlds. Long an industrious sort and until recently involved in marketing, Madison has acquired a solid 12% of the shares of Walton Worlds. The Counselor is amazingly insightful, friendly and welcoming. You always look forward to your counseling sessions with the Madison. To be honest you're a little flustered when dealing with Counselor Wisconsin. This is definitely not something you're used to. Counselor Wisconsin is actually the creator of the wondrous Join US! product line, though it seems to have cost Madison a position as head of marketing for a solar system. You're not sure where Madison's allegiances really lie.

Wahad Th'nein, Ship's First Officer
Number One, as Wahad Th'nein prefers to be called, is a little uptight. First Officer Th'nein came from a well off family and, though the family's fortunes have slipped a little, still controls 11% of the shares of Precipice Technologies. Th'nein is quite loyal to Captain Picket. She turned down a promotion to Captain in order to come aboard as First Officer of the Petunia at the same time as Captain Picket. Perhaps you and Captain Picket together can convince Th'nein to Join US!.
