Setting
This is a meeting of the Scientific Human Interplanetary Freedom and Rebirth Association (SHIFRA). The inner circle is meeting to decide who will be involved in the final stages of Project Exodus.
Characters
Chris Carpenter
You have been to SHIFRA meetings several times, but you are only involved at the lowest level. Last week, you got a call asking you to show up today to interview for Project Exodus. You're pretty sure that you got called because you are about to start engineering school. You have heard rumors that SHIFRA does some major engineering projects that the people at the low levels don't know about. As an undergraduate, SHIFRA won't use you as anything but a lackey, but you would much rather be a lackey working on a major project where you can make a difference.
Andrea Skala
You founded SHIFRA over 15 years ago. SHIFRA has done some important work in fending off environmental collapse, but for the past decade, you have pushed SHIFRA more and more towards Project Exodus: the spaceship that will save some part of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. The people you bring in now will be guaranteed spots on the ship, but there will not be enough spaces later on. It is important to make good decisions for who to bring in. (John has been working with you almost from the start. You recognize Chris as Chris, but know that if you explain how you know Chris, people will think you are crazy. Chris herself will think you are crazy. At the same time, you know Chris is a good person and should be on the Project Exodus).
John Papadopoulos
You joined SHIFRA shortly after Andrea founded the organization. Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. They have to be interesting, intelligent and ready to deal with challenges. You want to avoid bringing the sort of people who caused earth's problems. (You recognize Chris as Chris, but know that if you explain how you know Chris, people will think you are crazy. Chris herself will think you are crazy. At the same time, you know Chris is a good person and should be on the Project Exodus. In fact, it is more important that Chris get on the ship than that you do, really).
Paul Robertson
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. This spaceship is going to be humanity's only real hope. You need to pick people who are good and moral. The colony needs a strong moral foundation on which to grow. It is possible to be moral without being strongly religious, but anyone who isn't coming from a religious Christian background is going to have to work hard to prove that they have a true moral grounding.
Erin Barnaby
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. You want to make sure that there are young people in this group with new and original ideas. For all of SHIFRA's radical rebellion, it can tend towards hero worship and tradition far too quickly. You need new blood to balance that tendancy.
Mark Johnson
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. Everyone in the group seems to focus entirely on the colony. You're an engineer, and you seem to be the only one who realizes how many people you still need to run the ship. You don't care about most of the features of the people you choose, you just want good assistants who will help make sure that the ship gets off the ground and to Jerusalem.
Lucy Ivanoff
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. Many of the people in SHIFRA want to bias the selection towards college graduates for their knowledge. This is a good idea, objectively, but it means that the people who have faced the worst of the problems here on earth will continue to suffer. You want to help the poor and wretched to get off this planet and start a new life for themselves, with better chances.
Natasha Theophoro
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. You grew up in an rich family that made its money off of oil. You were brought to environmentalism by a great speaker who showed you the havoc your family was causing. SHIFRA tends to focus too much on the people who already agree with them. They need to bring in more outsiders with new ideas and different perspectives.
Terry Smith
Project Exodus will launch a spaceship to save a fragment of humanity and bring them to Jerusalem, an earthlike planet. You need to choose wisely when selecting members of the team for the final stage of Project Exodus, because those you select will form the new colony. You need to pick people who will form a good breeding population for the colony. It is important that they be intelligent, but it is also very important that they be young, healthy, fertile, and, preferably attractive to form a strong colony.
Rachel Jeffreys
You heard about the construction of a spaceship. All your life, you have read about NASA and the space program. You regretted that you were born too late to work on it. All you care about is building the spaceship. You have models of NASA spaceships. What type of engines are they using? What type of heat shielding are they using? You don't really care about the planet, but you would love to go into space.
Dr. Miriam Albertson
You have been working for about a year on some minor engineering projects for SHIFRA. You made a more efficient water purifier that is being distributed in suffering countries. You are pushing 40, and have very few close connections outside of SHIFRA. You want to make the world a better place and save as many lives as you can. You work as an engineering professor at a university, and you might be able to recruit a few students to help as well.
Jennifer Scott
You have so many ideas. They didn't like the last one. It was a gun, sure, but it used biodgradeable bullets and the capsules released almost no CO2! It was perfect. This time you brought jet skis. They run on hydrogen. Now people can jet ski without causing carbon emissions. They also go faster than previous jet skis.
Marcus Greyson
You have been struggling on the streets since you were a kid. You never had a whole lot of success in school, but with temp work and occasional real jobs, you've managed to keep your head mostly above water. You have some friends who literally didn't manage that. When you started to hear that the floods were being caused by global warming, you wanted to do something. You didn't see much to do, so you joined up with SHIFRA. They haven't really given you anything useful to do. Protesting is nice and all, but you want to fix things.
Tamara Curtis
You're not quite sure what this Project Exodus thing is about. You got involved in SHIFRA to make the world a better place to live, but Exodus sounds like they're going to run away. You don't really want to leave, you want to stay and help.
