Success! I have assembled a fellowship of my Oxford '74 classmates to join me in my expedition to the amazon. I, Caleb C. Cosgrove III will of course be leading the expedition. The good Mr. Bernhard Goodwill, master rugby tactition and cave spelunker extraordinairre will naturally be accompanying us as our spelunker. Theodore Sims and Collin Fields are archaeologists, like myself. We even won the services of one my Edmund Hopwood, who has gone on digs before. He shall be a true asset to our team.
Collin did some research, and he informs me that the village we'll first be staying at is downright civilized compared to some of the places we could have ended up travelling to. Almeirim, as its called, is not inhabited by native tribesmen who would sooner scalp you than help you, rather, it is inhabited by the english and protuguese. While I'm sure their pronunciation of our great language has been corrupted I am quite certain that they will be gracious to have us around as mentors. I even hear that they still keep tea time.

Dry land at last! What a blessing it is to be off that ship and its roguish sailors. Still, this land is no England. Before we get to do any archaeology, we'll have to find Almeirim and establish our base camp.

Well, we found Almeirim, and were just about to set off, when Theodore came down with a sudden case of influenza. Edmund suggested we wait around until Theodore gets better, as it'll be impossible for him to heal up once we're in the field. I think he may have "ulterior motives" in suggesting we stay, but his logic was sound, and Theo certainly wasn't about to disagree.
