-genre: Horror/Thriller
-if magic then occult dark magic -if aliens then hostile, malevolent aliens problem: several (at least) comedic characters (Tex, the old couple) solution: if keep characters, then bait-and-switch, put comedic characters in a seriously dangerous and scary situation. Maybe give them more emotional depth and background to make more of an impact. -the old couple: up the angst (maybe re-write them so that they start off with this awful marriage that they are both trapped in, so that dying together but in love is actually kind of a happy ending) - not sure if anything can really be done with Tex, might be best to just leave him as is.
-fixes: rethink all the mechanics and puzzles
up the angst for characters sow seeds for suspicion and mistrust more occult 1/3 through the game, kill off a character in a public and horrific way scheduled events - game vs. characters
-changes: uberplot - do we keep it?
if keeping the ghost, then re-write him to anna-free parameters
-runtime changes : rethink space. where do we want to run this? what are space constraints?
-how to set the right atmosphere in the physical space?
-two rooms. start the game in one room, fully set up as a camp, with a campfire,and other jolly things. shortly after the beginning of the game, move into the second room that is pitch black so that the only light is from lanterns they bring in and flashlights. maybe use glow-in-the-dark paint/props. light effects(strobe lights) soundtrack. (play cave sounds like dripping water etc. brandeis library might have some). the dark room is then locked.
