Minions and Wargame

  • Everyone has minions, there is a limited wargame mechanic, people can move their minions around. If you go into a site someone else owns, they know (insurgents and kurds are special and can be there without being seen as long as they don't do anything. You can attack insurgents only if they do something or you know where they are).
  • People have troops in regions, if you are there and someone does something, you can object. To do something, no one who objects can be there.
  • Level 2 shows occasionally and wipes out 1 random troop per round stationed in random location, moves if there are no troops left.
    • Airstrike can take out level 2. Troops have no effect.
  • If level 3 is summoned, it pops up spontaneous locations kills everything in region, including population centers.
  • Units have scores, if one attacks, the lower one dies, but does it's points in damage. Can retreat, take half damage and move away.
  • If an insurgent does something, it requires one round to fade back in and can be attacked the next time.
  • Can order: do a ritual, drill for oil, "send humanitarian aid"
  • Massad agent can once per game call in airstrike (you will be pulled out to save your life)
  • Kurds have several 1 pt troops spread around.
  • Something like 15 regions, can contain 0-several resources, but those are not separated.
  • Shoggoth has secret units (power of 1) in each population center.
  • There should be some limitation preventing government from piling everything in one spot.

Combat

You have a combat stat, you play rock paper scissors, and the winner adds one. The loser loses the difference in stats from their hit points. If you go down to 0 hit-points, you are bleeding to death, if no one helps within 5 minutes, you die. Anyone can administer first-aid and put you up to 1 hitpoint.

Magic and Rituals

  • Artifacts - of one shot cookie effects
    • Tome of paralysis - as long as you are reading from it (up to a time limit) they must stay still and listen. If they stay x period, they get a delusion. (Shoggoth?)
    • Stone of Truth -- needs blood to activate (Veronica has it) -- 1 HP to answer yes/no question.
    • Camera of detect magic - random politician has it.
    • Shoggoth tentacle - possibly a mind rape: they rummage painfully through your mind and it is very obvious.
    • Ring of charisma (Brass Rat) -- Rodney Greiner
    • A stone from the Tower of Babel - Person is incapable of speaking or writing in any known language for 5 minutes.
    • Glowing sphere? cone? - that lets you hear the orders from any one person this turn. Also gives user a delusion for 5 minutes because you also heard other things.
  • Ritual requires having minions standing there, they can send a person there.
  • Hastur guy has spell usable once per game to give one military order to one unit.
  • Can summon a level N+1 baddy, can control a level N, where N=# of sites

Shoggoth Ritual

  • Must have a unit in the population center.
  • Mysterious attack kills hundreds of people

Holy Sites

  • One is in a major population center
  • The Al Araf one has the oil well
  • Aegis has a major military base on one site
  • Game space is a holy site

In game rituals

  • Summoning rituals involving this site must be done in game.
  • Need 3 people plus sacrifice, artifact of power, some chanting and showiness.

Insanity

  • If you go down to 0, you get a delusion and go back up to full.
  • Pull a random delusion, if you have too many, you are also insane.
  • CDC person (or holy man) might have hypnosis.
