Character Sheet

Your name is Frances Zabrensky. You were born in Southern Vermont to a college Math Professor and a doctor. You were brought up to love math and you were quite good at it when you were younger.

It got you in trouble sometimes when you were in middle school. You were often branded as a geek and shunned from playing at recess and so on. You didn't have very many friends, but you liked classes, especially math and science classes.

So your childhood was vaguely uninteresting. You stayed home a lot, you didn't see many movies, you didn't play many games, and people called you 'weird' and 'boring.' But you thought math and school was fun.

Things went that way for years until you went to college. You decided to go to Lashane college outside Boston. It didn't have the best Math program of the schools you were looking at, but they were willing to give you financial aid, so you went there.

Again, you didn't make very many friends. It was hard for you to meet people. But you liked to go to the coffeehouse on campus. You went to see the bands that played there. During your freshman year, you went to see the band TMRfOH (you never did find out what that stood for). Especially the drummer, Darren. He was cute. You had seen him in some of your classes, and you wish you had the strength to talk to him. You loved to go watch him play. You noticed there were other people who did the same thing.

There was Laura, who seemed a little too interested in Darren. She was a little weird, and you didn't know her that well, but she seemed friendly enough with Darren. There was also another girl, Jessica. She seemed a little more than friendly with Darren. Even so, you saw how she looked at the lead singer, Michael. Michael was cute, but he was a little too artsy for your tastes.

You realized that Darren was your first crush about two hours after hearing that he had been going out with Jessica for three months. It was a tough time for you, but you got through it the only way you knew how. You buried yourself in your work.

You went out with a couple of guys here and there after that, but nothing too serious, and nothing lasted very long. Your time in college wasn't very interesting, but you learned a lot, more about yourself than about math, though.

It took you a while to get a job after graduation. It seemed as though not many companies needed a math major. You had a handful of retail and menial jobs here and there, but none of them paid very well, and none of them really interested you. So you kept a look out for bigger companies that were looking for accountants or anything else that would require a degree in mathematics.

They say you should be careful what you wish for.

About a year ago you heard about an opening in the accounting department of Gold Standard Entertainment. This was the chance you had been waiting for. It was a big company, and the accounting was more interesting math than you normally had to do. You took the job. It was interesting, and the pay was quite good.

A couple months ago, however, your supervisor, the head of the accounting department left the company without warning or reasoning. You were promoted to replace her.

You've been dealing directly with Solomon Gold, the CEO of Gold Standard. He has been telling you of some of the things your predecessor had been working on. It seems as though Gold Standard, or more specifically Mr. Gold himself, has been using some creative accounting to make himself some extra money. It's now your job to make sure that happens and that no one finds out about that.

You caught on to that quite quickly, but you're still not sure how you feel about the situation. On the one hand, the pay is even better than you would have thought, and you're the head of a department. However, on the other hand, if you get found out, you could go to jail.

You've been avoiding Mr. Gold the past couple of days. You told him you had to correct some of the mistakes that had been made on some tax documents. You've been using this time to figure out what you want to do about the situation.

It's been getting harder and harder to avoid him, though.

Gender Switched and Edited

Your name is Phillip Zabrensky. You were born in Southern Vermont to a college Math Professor and a doctor. You were brought up to love math and you were quite good at it when you were younger.

You had seen him in some of your classes, and you wish you had the strength to talk to him, but it was hard to approach people you don't know. So you just hung out at the coffeehouse and watched them play. They were by far one of the best bands on campus. You noticed there were other people who did the same thing.

There was Louis, who seemed a little too interested in Darren. He was a little weird, and you didn't know him that well, but he seemed friendly enough with Darren. There was also this girl, Jessica. She seemed a little more than friendly with Darren. Even so, you saw how she looked at the lead singer, Michael. Michael was charismatic, but he was a little one of those artsy guys, a music major or something like that.

Jessica was interesting. She was beautiful and smart and she liked the same music you did. You wish you could see her more often. She was one of the real reasons you went to TMRfOH's concerts.

You realized that Jessica was your first crush about two hours after hearing that she had been going out with Darren for three months. It was a tough time for you, but you got through it the only way you knew how. You buried yourself in your work.

Last Thoughts Before Gamestart

And of course, the one day you're running late back to work is the one day Mr. Gold decides to ride the train for some odd reason. Oy.

And wait, hey, aren't those people who went to Lashane with you? What's up with that?

Who You Know on the Train

01. Jessica Hawthorne – Your friend Darren’s girlfriend in college. By the time you realized you liked her, he was already going out with her.

02. Scott Barrister – One of the other guys in TMRfOH. You didn’t know him well, but he was always nice to you.

03. A nerdy, awkward looking young man. He's so obviously weird you actually feel a bit sorry for him.

04. This guy seems like he belongs in some old detective movie. You don't know if that means he's going to shoot you or ask you for help on a mystery.

05. Madam Zostra – A psychic you’ve been calling a lot recently, hoping she’ll maybe have some insight on what to do about your new job.

06. This guy seems like he belongs in one of those hippie coffe shops reading poetry or something. He looks well put together, but a little artsy.

07. A young woman in professional dress. She looks like she's got a lot on her mind.

08. It's clear from this young man's face that he's gone through some tough stuff lately. Poor guy.

09. This guy seems to be one tough customer. Not the sort of person you want to get on the wrong side of.

10. Mike Jones – He was a good-looking guy in TMRfOH in college, but now he’s been a famous rock star.

11. A big, tough-looking man with stern features. He doesn't seem to be in the mood to put up with any nonsense right now.

13. Solomon Gold – Your new boss. You’ve noticed the questionable things he’s been doing with the records, and he wants you to cover for them. You’re not sure how you feel about that.

14. Of course, you'd have to get on the train that had the crazy smelly hobo on it.

15. Terry Shipton – Didn’t she go to college with you? She seems really stressed out right now.
