Prologue

Music: Tim Larkin - Beginnings: Esher

All players in bridge. Computer terminals dark, lights fully off. Main screen: A field of stars, slowly panning.

NARRATOR: Space. The mind boggles at its vastness. A whole universe of new worlds to discover, new horizons to cross.

Beat.

NARRATOR: The advent of space travel brought untold opportunities, and the major global powers realized that in order to embrace the new opportunities afforded by it, they must change with the times.

Beat.

NARRATOR: And so, the Interplanetary Association was formed. (The IA logo fades onto main screen.) A cooperative effort between the world's largest corporations, the IA seeks to expand its economic opportunity as far as the proton drive will carry it.

Beat. The Petunia begins panning into view, small in the distance at first, then larger as we track towards it.

NARRATOR: And its flagship, the Petunia, the ultimate symbol of the Association's greatness, is about to return triumphantly to its home base on Galleria II.

Slowly, the camera continues tracking in towards the cockpit, accelerating as it goes, until a sudden fade to black and silence. A beat later, the bridge computers hum into operation and the star field dissolves into view. The lights turn on.

The Shit Hits The Fan

COMPUTER: Approaching... Galleria II.

Suddenly, the main screen shivers and a large white object swirls into view. It is heading towards the ship at an alarming pace. "RED ALERT" flashes across all the screens as alarms begin to sound. As the white object envelops the entire main screen, all the terminals go blank and begin flashing "abnormal condition."

Music: ELO - Fire on High (edit)

The alarms stop sounding. On the main screen, various abstract shapes swirl by as the music crescendos towards the opening chords. A black spot appears in the middle of the screen and begins to grow, and it becomes apparent that it is another star field. As the opening chords blast through the sound system, we emerge into ... somewhere else.

The music stops. The terminals reactivate. Beat. Suddenly, a ship emerges from the right side of the screen and fires three blasts straight at the bridge. This immediately triggers off the alarms. This leads to a frantic battle scene in which the players must figure out how to use the ship's terminals. (Music: Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain.)

Just as things are looking really bad for the Petunia, another ship emerges out of nowhere and takes down the attackers with one decisive shot. Immediately, we go to opening credits.

Once the credits have finished, we go almost immediately into the next encounter (Tensions).

Tensions

The players meet the two warring factions immediately upon wormhole exit. At first, the two ships are fighting, then they stop when they notice the Petunia. The two leaders start yelling at each other (the players are hailed).

Both leaders assume the Petunia is the enemy's secret weapon, and both hotly deny having created it.

Meanwhile, the heir and heiress of the factions beam onboard into the storage bay. They are madly in love and trying to escape the warring factions so that they can get married. They hide in a box labeled "stowaways." These will be horde players later in the game.

Eventually, the leaders will get mad and start shooting at the Petunia. They can choose to stay and fight, or they can escape. Hopefully the players will try to escape; otherwise, the ship will engage its Bachman-Turner Overdrive and run the hell away.

Landfall on Cicada XVII

Music: Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn (excerpt)

COMPUTER: Approaching... Cicada XVII.

The planet comes into view on the main screen. After a while, the main screen flashes "orbit established". At this point, the players have the opportunity to land on the planet.

The first thing that happens on the planet is that NUMBER ONE is kidnapped by a Trigrit, who beams away to his cloaked ship and warps out before the Petunia can stop him.

On the planet (a separate room), the players encounter a man wearing a simple robe. He invites them into his cave. (Music: Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn.)

SISKO (the old man) explains to them that they are in a different galaxy from where they started. He uses his replicator to make them coffee. If they act overly capitalist in front of him, he will note how strange their notions of wealth and poverty are - why don't the poor just replicate the things they need? (Hopefully, at some point, the players will think to ask him about the transporter and the replicator, which are technology they don't have. If they do so, SISKO will replicate a replicator for them.)

In any event, SISKO will eventually tell them that if they want to get back to where they came from, they will need to get unobtanium elsewhere, as this planet has been completely strip-mined. The best place for them to find it is the unobtanium mines on Twitchidus, which is also most likely where that Trigrit took NUMBER ONE. He will upload the coordinates into the Petunia's navigation computer.

A Daring Rescue

Music: VnV Nation - Elektronaut

The players arrive at the planet Twitchidus, where they must go down to the planet to attempt a rescue mission. At the harem, the Engineer's Lover will help them get in, once she recognizes them.

Once in, they encounter at least one trap. This is a fire trap, which will set Hai Lee on fire if he is there. Otherwise, target someone random. It should kill Ensign Red Shirt in addition to whatever else it does, of course.

Inside, they find Marevin Totolo and his guard (the Trigrit Rebel). Totolo should rant maniacally, then the guard will rebel and kill him. They can help if they want, but feel free to trap them enough that they have to listen to him rant a bit.

Then they rescue Wahad Th'nein, and the Bartender's Lover, and decide what to do about the rest of the harem. The princess (Harem Girl) should take over. She and her lover should give them unobtanium, then they can leave. The engineer's lover also can know where unobtanium is.

The Heart of the Matter

At some point, we will have a scene with 4 horde players, two of which will remain after the scene. 2 are the crewmen who discovered the stowaways, and the other 2 are the stowaways themselves.

Much later, the warring factions come after them because they "realize what happened": the Petunia has kidnapped their heirs in order to steal them away to the other side! The leaders yell for a little while and then both beam onto the bridge, along with Katisha (the elderly person one of them is betrothed to). This will then be a PC-driven encounter from that point forward.

The leaders of the warring factions have secretly been in love for years, and once their heirs begin talking about it, they will (hopefully) realize the correct course of action: a mass wedding.

Home Again?

Music: King Crimson - Frame by Frame (edit)
